Tom Holland Shares Thoughts on No Way Home
Tom Holland is sharing his impressions of filming his third Spider-Man film, No Way Home. The plot of this film will pick up where we left off in 2019’s Far From Home. Peter Parker is trying to gain control over his life after his secret identity is exposed to the world by J. Jonah Jameson.
One familiar enemy fans will witness Spider-Man face off against is Doc Ock, a role being reprised by Alfred Molina.
Holland ‘Geeks Out’ Over Molina
In his new comments, Tom Holland gushes over veteran actor, Alfred Molina. He says the actor is “one of my favorite people I’ve ever worked with.”
Holland goes on to share:
“It was really fun to watch him see how technology has advanced. When he was making these films, the arms were puppets, and when we did it, they’re all imaginary and CG. I was quite cool to see him relive it, but also relearn it.”
While fans know the new film will include some past experiences in Spider-Man’s career, Holland did not confirm any definite crossover between his trilogy and earlier films.
Peter Parker Moves in a New Direction
Previously, Holland has shared that No Way Home will offer an opportunity for him to pay homage to past versions of Peter Parker, while also taking the teenage super hero in a new direction.
While plot specifics are scarce, we do know that this film will begin with Peter trying to manage his newfound infamy as Spider-Man with schoolwork, familial responsibilities (to his Aunt May) and a new relationship with MJ. He turns to fellow Avenger, Dr. Strange, to help “fix” what’s gone awry, and instead, accidentally turns the universe upside-down.
Holland shares that fight scenes in the new film will be “a lot more visceral” with “a lot more hand-to-hand combat.”
Will Holland Return as Spider-Man?
There has been a lot of speculation about whether or not Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man. While no one knows for sure, the 25-year-old actor has said that filming No Way Home felt like an ending.
“We’ve been making these films for five years now,” Holland said. “We’ve had such an amazing relationship, the three of us [Holland, Zendaya – who plays MJ, and Jacob Batalon – who plays Ned]. We’ve been with each other every step of the way. We’ve done every single film, every single press tour. So this one scene, [we didn’t know] if this would be the last time [we were all working together]. It was heartbreaking but also really exciting because we’re all moving on to the next chapter of our careers. So sharing that moment with them was maybe the best day I’ve ever had on set. I don’t think I’ve cried like that ever.”
Draw your own conclusions, but it sounds like this epic film may also be the end of an era…
