REVIEW: Agatha All Along in Hulkling & Wiccan 4
In the episode, Hulkling & Wiccan 4 by Josh Trujillo, Jodi Nishijima, Matt Milla, and Ariana Maher, the mystery of who has been messing with Billy and Teddy’s reality is finally laid bare… and it was Agatha all along! Just like I thought, Marvel Blog True Believers!
Hulkling & Wiccan 4
In the finale of this brief but satisfying tale, we see Billy Kaplan restore reality, reuniting with his husband, Teddy Altman, in a happy affirmation of the couple’s devotion to one another.
However, this does mean that the two new characters who our familiar superheroes became coupled with in the alternate realities, Goebig and Eidolon, are left with broken hearts in the wake of this series. Is it possible we might see more of these memorable new faces in future stories? Let’s hope so!
In addition to the happy resolution we’ve been craving since the first episode of this series, Hulkling & Wiccan 4 also delivers the revelation that Agatha Harkness is behind the mysterious reality-warping dating sim. This is what I had guessed, but I am very pleased I guessed correctly!
Remember how Agatha was “teaching” Wanda in WandaVision? It seems like the whole “dating sim reality” was similar to the WestView Hex. The main difference? While Agatha just showed up at the Wanda-created Hex in WandaVision, she seems to have borrowed someone else’s power in order to “test and teach” Billy in Hulkling & Wiccan.
I’m curious what Agatha’s angle might be, and I hope we see more of this storyline in the future.
Overall, Hulkling & Wiccan was a wonderful four-episode story, with lots of the sort of stuff I want to see out of a Marvel Comic. From story to art to colors to lettering (to the inclusion of several of my favorite characters), this series was a smash-hit. More of this, please!
