MarvelBlog News for March 21st, 2022
We discuss plenty of revelations this week including the brand new Ms. Marvel trailer, a potential Daredevil reboot, some news surrounding Samuel L. Jackson, and some
Alert: We will finally discuss those cameo spoilers from Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s available on Vudu. So, if you haven’t watched it by now, you’ve been warned.
Samuel L. Jackson Is Over It
One of my favorite running gags about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is its fear factor.
Performers learn quickly that Marvel isn’t kidding around about spoilers. If you say something too revealing, you WILL get a phone call from someone.
Many actors live in fear of it. Recently, Tatiana Maslany said too much in her hometown paper and then had to lie for six months to cover it.
Right now, the actor who portrays Reed Richards in Fantastic Four is doing the same thing, even though everyone knows it’s him.
However, those are younger people who could feasibly work for Marvel/Disney for the next quarter-century.
Samuel L. Jackson turned 73 in December and is long past the need to keep his mouth shut. As one of Hollywood’s most famous celebrities, he can do what he wants.
So, Jackson has found several hot microphones lately and started blabbing about future MCU plans.
You can be that fearless when artists have drawn Nick Fury in Marvel Comics with your likeness for 20 years.
The actor recently interviewed on a podcast and checked off the list of MCU titles where he will appear.
According to Jackson, he filmed two movies and a television series consecutively. We knew about the show, which is Secret Invasion.
The movies were something of a surprise. Jackson also appears in The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Remarkably, Jackson indicates that he filmed all three of them simultaneously.
He describes the quirky schedule this way: “So it was like, three Marvel movies on one lot. I was kind of running around from place to place.”
Jackson also indicates that he signed a nine-picture deal with Marvel. So, he just wiped out one-third of his contractual obligations in one prolonged shoot!
More from Nick Fury…
Jackson didn’t stop there, either. He also revealed some casting news about his various projects.
In discussing Secret Invasion, the actor rightfully marked out regarding the acting talent involved.
While doing so, Jackson accidentally (?) gave away the presence of two more performers in the project.
Don Cheadle and Martin Freeman will return in Secret Invasion. So, we can add War Machine and Everett Ross to the cast of characters.
Obviously, Cheadle is gearing up for Armor Wars, which will focus on War Machine. For this reason, his presence in Secret Invasion is fascinating.
The return of Ross seems less surprising since he’s a CIA operative in the MCU. Obviously, he will play a factor in stories involving the government.
By the way, Jackson adds that this is the first time he has ever worked with Don Cheadle.
Since both men have been in the MCU since the very beginning, that’s an incredible fact.
News from Production Weekly
For those of you unfamiliar with the publication, Production Weekly is like the industry bible for film schedules.
Producers regularly inform the site of scheduled filming dates for various movies and television series.
Well, this site has proven a gold mine over the past week. We just learned and confirmed several upcoming MCU stories, one of which is an attention-grabber.
“Daredevil Reboot” is on the schedule. Yes, this confirms that Matt Murdock will officially join the MCU soon.
As a reminder, that other appearance he made was arguably one and arguably not, depending on how you perceive Spider-Man.
I would say it counts, but I know that some of you place an asterisk beside it.
Now, we’ll remove all doubt as Daredevil becomes the first former Netflix character to get a new Disney+ series.
That’s not the only news item, either. Deadpool 3 is also listed as filming soon!
So, Ryan Reynolds and Disney have, in fact, developed a tight bond, as I’d previously speculated.
Finally, the one speculative entrant is “Untitled Marvel Space Project.” I’m assuming for now that it’s Nova, but that’s only a guess.
Production Weekly also lists Echo, Ironheart, and Werewolf by Night. You can safely slot those into the next 12-18 months of Disney+ programming.
Well, we know the target date for Werewolf by Night is Halloween, but you get my point.
MCU Media Clips Edition
Okay, I am resisting all urges to mark out over the new Ms. Marvel trailer. Instead, I’ll simply post it:
My only comment circles back to something I said in the Know Your Marvels for this one.
- Willow Wilson created this character using the five boroughs prototype, the one that explains the original stories of Peter Parker and Steve Rogers.
Kamala Khan lives in the unofficial sixth borough, Jersey City. Her character is also an outsider.
That final shot of her staring across the water at New York City at the 1:42 mark drives home both points.
Khan is literally on the outside looking in…both ways. She’s a Muslim teen searching for her identity, and she’s not a true New Yorker like Rogers and Parker.
Friends, that’s exceptional visual storytelling.
In other Marvel media news, The Daily Bugle has returned to TikTok. Here’s a clip:

Yup, they’re using this promotional outlet for Morbius, which I don’t think any of us had expected.
Also, yes, that is content creator Nicque Marina turning her genuine love of Marvel into an actual presence in the Sony side of the MCU! That’s phenomenal!
Finally, we’ve got a Moon Knight clip to share:
I think we’ve all been that elderly woman in the elevator at some point.
And that’s your MarvelBlog News for March 21st, have an amazing week True Believers!
