Elizabeth Olsen Says Wanda Maximoff Is Dead– But She Is Still Open to Returning to the MCU

With the WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along now streaming on Disney+, an increased amount of attention has been focused on the fate of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff.

After creating the fictional world of Westview in WandaVision, only to see her sitcom-inspired family disappear before her eyes, Wanda returned in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Corrupted by the Darkhold, Wanda terrorized the multiverse as she attempted to be reunited with her children, Tommy and Billy. Eventually, realizing the error of her ways, Wanda decided to destroy the Darkhold, seemingly sacrificing herself in the process.

However, as any Marvel fan knows, death in comic book stories is seldom permanent. Additionally, as Marvel chose to omit any glimpse of Wanda’s corpse in Multiverse of Madness, many have held out hope that the Scarlet Witch survived.

Elizabeth Olsen Says Wanda is Dead

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her new movie, His Three Daughters, Olsen was asked if Wanda was actually dead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

“I think so, I assume as much,” she began, before explaining that “there was a red light of explosive energy [where Wanda found herself buried in debris].  I think I’m dead.”

How the Scarlet Witch Could Return

As Hugh Jackman recently proved in Deadpool & Wolverine, death is not always the end of one’s Marvel story. So, is the window still open for Olsen to return to the MCU?

“I would beg to leave a window open. I had so much fun doing these movies,” she exclaimed.

While the actress would love to see Wanda return to the MCU, Olsen is leery of undermining her character’s story.

With that said, she wants to “figure out how to cleverly be undead.”
