We have Jessica Jones news. Real Jessica Jones news. This is real, and the character is back! We’ll discuss this joyous revelation in MarvelBlog News.
She’s Baaaack

A while ago, I mentioned a rumor that Krysten Ritter would appear in the MCU.
In case you’ve forgotten, the actress portrayed Jessica Jones on Netflix’s Marvel series as well as The Defenders, the superhero team-up.

Since then, fans have clamored for more of Ritter as Jessica Jones…and I’m definitely one of them. It’s one of my favorite shows of the 21st century.
Despite our enthusiasm, Marvel hadn’t confirmed anything about Jones officially joining the MCU.

There were definitely reports of it happening, and Ritter herself seemingly gave away her return due to the choice of a talkative hairstylist.
That individual happily posted on social media that she had colored Ritter’s hair in the style of Jessica Jones.

And the salon worker brought receipts in the form of pictures of Ritter looking like her iconic character.
However, nothing came out of it, presumably due to any number of reshoots and reboots of Marvel plans.

I fully believe that Ritter had prepared for an appearance in a Marvel movie or, more likely, a television series.
That return never came to fruition…until now. Variety has confirmed that Ritter will portray Jessica Jones in season two of Daredevil: Born Again.

While I don’t want to spoil the finale for those who haven’t seen it – expect my final two recaps to be published this week – it’s safe to say something.
Matt Murdock knows he’s gonna need an army. So, it makes sense for him to call upon some of his old friends.

The Daredevil has already done that this season due to an admittedly unwelcome reunion with The Punisher.
Jessica counts as more of a friend than Frank Castle ever did, making this pairing less antagonistic.
More about the Return of Jessica Jones

To her credit, Ritter has kept her secrets about potential plans for Jones’ return. If it happened already, we don’t know that (yet).
I’m confident that if something was left on the cutting room floor, we’ll find out around the time that Daredevil: Born Again season two arrives.

Until then, we’re mainly just speculating based on prior intel, all of which was viable rather than nonsensical.
But now that Ritter can speak on the record, she sounds giddy about circling back to a character she clearly adores.

“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU.”
“I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”

Based on her comments, Ritter sounds like she’s featured in more than just a single-episode cameo.
Also, Jon Bernthal has confirmed that Castle will return as well, which is just common sense if you’ve already watched the end of season one.

Still, I’m fascinated by the fact that Disney is getting much of the band back together.
Surely, Iron Fist and Luke Cage can’t be far behind, especially when we factor in that Finn Jones was just pleading to come back.

As an aside, Charlie Cox has confirmed that Daredevil won’t appear in Avengers: Doomsday. So, we should probably talk about that.
Quick Notes about Avengers: Doomsday
We’re still a year away from Avengers: Doomsday, yet most of the media spotlight is already glaring brightly on this project.
Despite the fact that Ironheart is mere weeks away from release, it’s not garnering the attention of the Avengers sequel or even a potential X-Men film.

Part of the reason why is that Robert Downey Jr. has mastered the art of teasing the public in a way that people love.
Here’s an Instagram post about “Doom Workstation essentials.” Ever the opportunist, he appears to be shilling some products as well.

Anyway, the point is that RDJ wants people talking about Doomsday from now until May 1st, 2026, which is less than 50 weeks from now.
To do that, he’s become a human marketing machine, which has triggered the ancillary effect of journalists trying to learn new movie tidbits.

One of them is that Marvel apparently wants Tom Holland in the film – what a shock – but he hasn’t signed yet.
I’m honestly not sure I believe that. Marvel seems to have its bank open and is tossing out cash to anyone with a recognizable face.

Still, that’s the story of the moment, which forces me to wonder whether Spider-Man is integral to the plot.
If he were, Holland would be signed already. Then again, it’s entirely possible he is signed, but either people don’t know it yet or got the story wrong.
Speaking of return engagements, Scarlett Johansson has given every indication she won’t be back. You can read it for yourself.
While she could be playing coy, let’s remember that she came up as an indie actress. A complete character arc matters to her more than most.

Speaking of Ironheart, the delightful yet a bit befuddling trailer is now available.
I don’t necessarily buy that she’d keep talking to someone who just put her in a life-or-death situation, but the rest of the clip is quite good.

Marvel has correctly highlighted Ryan Coogler’s involvement as executive producer.
With Sinners absolutely wrecking the box office – it’s the most successful original IP at the box office since 2017 – Coogler is a rock star.

I mean, he already was, but Marvel should emphasize that Ironheart is a Coogler production as much as possible.
Daredevil: Born Again never reached the top ten on the Nielsen charts, and Ironheart isn’t an established character.

So, this show needs all the juice it can get to have a chance at succeeding.
As things stand, I’m braced for another Ms. Marvel, by which I mean an excellent television with a lower viewer total.

On the Thunderbolts* front, the film has earned $155.4 million domestically and $325.7 million worldwide after 17 days.
Given the film’s $180 million budget, it’s probably not going to make enough money to be profitable in theaters, just like Captain America: Brave New World.

Last week’s marketing plan, while ambitious and daring, doesn’t appear to have paid off to the degree Marvel had hoped.
Still, Thunderbolts* exemplifies why we all love the MCU, and I highly recommend it.
