Why Marvel Chose Pedro Pascal to Play Reed Richards
With The Fantastic Four: First Steps set to hit theaters in just a few months, Marvel’s First Family is finally set to enter the MCU.
To bring the story to life, four of the most famous actors on the planet were given the daunting task of portraying the iconic superhero team in the biggest franchise on the planet.

Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby takes on the role of Sue Storm/the Invisible Woman. Joseph Quinn will portray Johnny Storm/the Human Torch, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach will appear as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Casting Reed Richards
Of the four roles, only Reed Richards has previously appeared in the MCU. A variant of the Fantastic Four leader was portrayed by John Krasinski in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
When casting the sacred timeline version of the character, director Matt Shakman knew he needed to get it right.

In a recent interview with Empire, First Steps director Matt Shakman discussed the difficulties in casting Mr. Fantastic.
“I was looking for an actor who could contain multitudes,” Shakman said. “There’s the very cerebral Reed Richards, and then there’s the action hero, the leader, the husband, the father, the friend.”

Eventually, the director found what he was looking for in Pedro Pascal.
“I knew he could do all of that,” he said.
Will Pascal Deliver?
While it remains to be seen if Pascal can deliver in his performance as Reed Richards, so far, fans have praised the casting of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Hopefully, Shakman’s instincts were correct, and we will soon get the definitive version of the team.
