Ryan Coogler Teases Denzel Washington’s Role in ‘Black Panther 3’
While most Marvel films are announced at fan gatherings after careful planning, that was not true for Black Panther 3.
The third installment in the fan-favorite franchise was actually revealed by Denzel Washington, who let it slip that Ryan Coogler was writing a part for him in the next Black Panther film.
“I played Othello at 22. I am about to play Othello at 70,” he told Australia Today.

“After that, I am playing Hannibal. After that, I’ve been talking to Steve McQueen about a film. And after that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next ‘Black Panther.’ After that, I’m going to do the film ‘Othello,’ After that, I’m going to do King Lear. After that, I’m going to retire.”
Afterwards, Washington called Coogler to apologize for letting the cat out of the bag.
Coogler Is Thrilled to Be Working With Washington
While Marvel Studios eventually confirmed that Black Panther 3 was, in fact, in development, details on the film have been kept tightly under wraps.

In a recent interview with 7PM Brooklyn, Coogler discussed working with Washington.
“There’s no fiction out there,” Coogler said. “Denzel is family at this point … I’ve been trying to work with him since day one. I think he’s the greatest living actor, and in terms of what he means to our culture, forget about it. I’ve been talking to him about this to him for a long time … I was surprised when he mentioned it, but it’s not like it’s not true.”

Outside of Washington’s involvement, Coogler kept mum on what he has in store for Black Panther 3.
Marvel has not yet announced a release date for the film. Hopefully, after we finish Avengers: Doomsday, we will learn more about the next adventure in Wakanda.
