Josh Brolin Discusses His Possible Return As Thanos
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has had its fair share of memorable villains, none have made as big of a splash as Thanos.
After teasing the Mad Titan’s arrival for years, Thanos made his grand debut in Avengers: Infinity War, where he laid waste to the Avengers before snapping half of the universe’s population of existence.

While Thanos was eventually killed (twice) in Avengers: Endgame, the villain’s legacy has loomed large.
Could Thanos Return?
With the Marvel multiverse set to come together for the events of Avengers: Doomsday, many fans have speculated that a variant of Thanos could appear at some point in the next Avengers adventure.
The fact that both Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers are already returning for Doomsday has only fueled the fire.
Josh Brolin Weighs In
During a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Josh Brolin, who played Thanos in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, did not rule out returning to the MCU at some point.

Discussing his relationship with Downey and the Russos, Brolin revealed that he still talks to all three of his MCU cohorts frequently.
“I talk to Downey probably four to six times a year,” Brolin said. “ And I talk to the Russos probably four to six times a week. I mean, I talk to Joe a lot. We have a business that we’re doing together and all this kind of stuff, but I love them. I love both of them.”
As for returning as Thanos, the actor admitted that he has no plans to return; however, he is open to the idea.

Could Doom Kill Thanos?
While it is clear that Doctor Doom will be the next big MCU villain, there would seemingly still be ample opportunity for Brolin to return as Thanos.
If, for example, a variant of Thanos were to be killed by Doom, it would go a long way in showcasing just how powerful the villain is. This is a similar strategy to what Marvel did in What If…? when he was killed Ultron, Gamora, Killmonger, and Ronin.

Perhaps, then, we will see fans get their wish and Brolin return after all.
