Tom Holland Gives a Muted Update on His Future as Spider-Man
While we know Tom Holland will swing back into action next year for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) beyond that film is still unclear.
Having now portrayed Spider-Man for nearly a decade, Holland’s time as the webslinger may be running out. Nevertheless, the prevailing notion has been that Holland would complete a second trilogy of films and pop up in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Nevertheless, Marvel has yet to announce a Brand New trilogy, leaving fans concerned that Brand New Day may be Holland’s swan song.
Now, new comments by the actor have fueled that fire.

“I Don’t Know the Answer To That”
During a recent conversation with LADbible, Holland was asked about his MCU future beyond Brand New Day. Surprisingly, the usually open actor gave a guarded response.

“In terms of my future in the character beyond this film, I don’t know the answer to that,” Tom Holland suggested to LADbible during a conversation this September while speaking about the development of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“I think with anything, it’s all about what’s in front of you, and right now what’s in front of us is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and focusing on making that movie worthy of the last film.”

Based on Holland’s comments, it sounds like the actor knows he is closer to the end of his Spider-Man run than the beginning.
On the other hand, it is possible that Holland is just being coy and doesn’t want to spoil what Marvel has in store for fans.

For now, however, it sounds like we should treat Brand New Day as the final film for Holland and then go from there.
