MarvelBlog News for November 2nd, 2025
In this week’s MarvelBlog News, we’re going to discuss a Reddit AMA.
I know that’s a weird topic, but trust me. This particular story will fascinate Avengers fans.
The Kang Explanation

Here’s a link to the AMA in question. It starts with the sentence that says everything:
“Hi /r/movies! I’m Michael Waldron…You might also know me as the creator/writer of LOKI.”

The writer/director performed this Q&A session to promote his new series, Chad Powers, on Hulu.
However, as you’d expect, many of the questions centered on Waldron’s previous work at Disney.

He worked on multiple Marvel projects, including the failed Avengers: The Kang Dynasty project.
That’s the script we will never get, as Disney and Marvel ditched it in favor of Avengers: Doomsday.

Since that announcement, everyone has assumed that we knew the reason why.
Actor Jonathan Majors got into legal trouble for striking his then-girlfriend.

According to Waldron, the Kang/Avengers movies weren’t sure to happen anyway.
He indicates that the studio executives had grown nervous with the state of Marvel, as they should have.

With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania approaching, Marvel reassessed.
Support came within the building to make nice with Robert Downey Jr. and get him back in the fold.

In that scenario, I cannot envision a scenario where Disney would have chosen a Kang plot instead.
Also, Disney had acquired the cinematic rights to Doctor Doom in the Fox acquisition.

That’s a much more recognizable comic book character, one casual fans would know.
The Least Kang?

Still, I give Waldron credit for the story idea he had pitched to his bosses at Marvel.
In Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, various superhero teams would have faced iterations of Kang.

The Young Avengers would have squared off against one Kang…and utterly destroyed him.
While the team celebrated their victory, one of them would have looted his body.

At this point, they would have discovered that the one known as Lizard Kang carried a card.
On that card, it would have said, “Be Patient with him; it’s his first day as a Kang.”

I tested this joke on my wife, and she absolutely busted up at the thought of it.
To be fair, Loki’s one of her favorite shows of the past decade, though.

So, she may just share Waldron’s unique sense of humor. Still, I think that’s a hysterical idea.
At first, we would have thought that the Young Avengers were incredibly powerful.

Then, we would have quickly realized that they were preying on the weak, which isn’t very heroic.
Since Waldron created Loki, he obviously had a strong handle on how to write Kang as a character.

I still rewatch this scene on YouTube and admire how nuanced the idea is:
Despite everything, I’m not convinced that Marvel should give up on Kang as a character.

In truth, I hope the studio hasn’t and that he makes a surprise appearance in one of the next two films.
Since Waldron is the writer of Avengers: Doomsday, I’m not dismissing the possibility.

Then again, this could be yet another loose end that the MCU completely abandons.
Marvel Miscellany

While we’re on the subject of Avengers: Doomsday, a trailer is coming next month.
Disney will tether this clip to Avatar: Fire and Ash, a surefire box office blockbuster.

That’s a smart move since it ensures maximum visibility for the first look at the new film.
Some alleged spoilers are out there already, although I’m skeptical that anybody really knows anything.

Marvel keeps all this stuff so close to the vest. It’d be a total breakdown if this one somehow leaked.
We did get one other fascinating piece of information about The Avengers, though.

Apparently, Avengers: Secret Wars will film starting next spring, which makes sense, given the release schedule.
Presumably, Tom Holland will have finished all his obligations to Spider-Man: Brand New Day by then.

That’s the funniest part of all these discussions. It’s a nightmare trying to find a clean scheduling window for the entire cast.
I mentioned last week that Gwyneth Paltrow has hinted that she’ll return in one of those films.

This is an extreme example, but she’s an entrepreneur, while Chris Hemsworth may have Witcher to film.
Now, let’s extrapolate that thought to 50 people. It gets incredibly convoluted.

Thankfully, the television side has proven a bit easier, especially on the Daredevil: Born Again front.
All the prior Defenders couldn’t wait to return to their roles, and they’re not the only ones coming back.

Wilson Bethel has confirmed that Bullseye will appear in the recently confirmed season three.
That’s the fascinating thing about Daredevil. Everyone involved with this project is invested in its success.

Most television series aren’t like that. They’re just jobs. The actors care about Daredevil, though.
