A Major Marvel Star Has Weighed in on Their Potential ‘Doomsday’ Return
While Captain America: Brave New World was not the box-office success many had hoped for, the film did lay the groundwork for Avengers: Doomsday.
For those who don’t remember, in a mid-credit scene, Samuel Sterns (aka The Leader) warns Sam Wilson that a multiversal battle is coming.

“We share the same world, don’t we? This world you would die to save. It’s coming. I’ve seen it in the probabilities. Seen it plain as day. All you heroes protecting this world,” he menacingly began.
“Do you think you’re the only ones? Do you think this is the only world? We’ll see what happens when you have to protect this place from the others.”
What’s Next For The Leader
While it was clear to viewers that Stern was talking about Doctor Doom and the incursion that will lead to the next Avengers film, the future of The Leader is less clear.

After portraying Samuel Sterns in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, Nelson was absent from the MCU for 17 years.
Amazingly, The Leader did not return in a Hulk film, but in Brave New World, where he joined Captain America’s rogues’ gallery.

Now that Sterns has warned of the incoming multiversal battle, will he return in Doomsday?
Tim Blake Nelson Weighs In
During a recent interview with ComicBook’s Chris Killian, Nelson was asked about reprising The Leader.

While the actor would not confirm that he will suit up for Doomsday, he did leave the door open.
“I can confirm that if I have my way, they won’t have to wait 16 years,” he said.
As The Leader seems to know more about the incoming incursion than most of Marvel’s heroes, it would make sense for him to pop up in Avengers: Doomsday.

For now, however, we will have to wait and see.
