Kat Dennings Reveals Marvel Body Scanned Her – “I’m in the System”
While Star Wars has grabbed headlines for recreating the likeness of bygone stars including Mark Hammil and Peter Cushing, Marvel has not gone that route.
That, however, could soon change.

Kat Dennings Talks ‘Doomsday’
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Marvel star Kat Dennings was asked if her Darcy Lewis would be returning for Avengers: Doomsday.

Dennings, of course, previously appeared in Thor, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Love and Thunder, and WandaVision.
The actress, however, was adamant that she would not appear in the upcoming multiversal misadventure.
“What’s ‘Doomsday’? Oh ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ I thought you meant [Shifting Gears]. Like, is that the finale?” Dennings quipped.

“I am in the universe and, as you know, I can’t tell you anything. But I am not in it. I mean, I’m not in it. I am telling you right now, I’m not in it. If I were in it, which I’m not, I couldn’t tell you, but I literally am not. I’m sure they already filmed it. I was here [on set]. I’m not in it.”
“I’m in the System”
While Dennings made it clear that she had not traveled to London to shoot Avengers: Doomsday, she did tease that her character could still return.

“But they did scan me, so to be honest, they could put me in anything they want at this point,” she said. “I’m in the system.”
What Comes Next?
In recent years, Hollywood studios have increasingly body-scanned actors for big productions.

While the scans could theoretically be used to recreate the likeness of actors using artificial intelligence, that is not the only use that the process serves.
To this point, Marvel has occasionally used de-aging technology to fit narrative needs. They have not, however, artificially recreated any of their former stars.

Nevertheless, Dennings’ revelation is interesting and could have ramifications in the future.
