‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Promises the Ultimate Showdown Between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk
The Man Without Fear will return to take back New York City when Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 debuts on Disney+ tomorrow.
The last time we caught up with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, he was assembling an “army” to take back New York City from Mayor Wilson Fisk.

Fisk, for his part, had declared war on vigilantes, rounding up numerous heroes, including the Swordsman and, for a brief time at least, Punisher.
With the public supporting Fisk’s new crackdown, Daredevil will have to fight from the shadows to take the city back.

“Every great Daredevil story is ultimately a great Kingpin story,” said Sana Amanat, who executive produces alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, and others. “This is the ultimate Kingpin and Daredevil story; it’s pedal to the metal. That was really fun and kind of dangerous and scary to explore, considering who these two characters are.”
The Heart of ‘Daredevil’
As we saw with Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, the heart of the series is the conflict between Murdock and Fisk. Whether they are having tense conversations over breakfast or slugging it out in the streets, the two are inextricably linked.

“They’re constantly entwined and drawn to each other. They both want New York to love them. They both have violent tendencies. The similarities are so intriguing. They cannot exist without each other,” Amanat explained.
According to showrunner Dario Scardapane, Fisk’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force has intensified his rivalry with Daredevil, creating a polarized city on the brink of war.
The stakes are so high, Scardapane explains, that the previous code of honor between Daredevil and Kingpin, which included “mutual respect, integrity, and honesty,” is being tossed aside.

“Now, those values go out the window when they’re dealing with the other side.”
While the fate of New York City hangs in the balance, the final showdown between Fisk and Murdock comes down to the two men.

“If you look at the amount of screen time that Charlie and Vincent have shared over the course of five seasons, it’s minimal; they’ve been in maybe 10 scenes together,” Scardapane said.
“You’ve seen their interactions play out in the streets, through the ripple effects, so we were super mindful about building this moment. We provided a springboard for Wilson Fisk, Matt Murdock, Daredevil, and Kingpin to go to places we’ve never seen them go before. And we had to top ‘I beat you’ from Season 2. We had to top ‘It’s not entirely unpleasant to see you again’ from Season 1. So, we had to bring our A-game.”
Matt Murdock’s Allies
While Wilson Fisk seemingly holds the city in the palm of his hand, Daredevil does not have to fight alone.

Joining him for the battle will be Karen Page, played by Deborah Ann Woll, and Jessica Jones, played by Kristen Ritter. For Cox, Page’s return is particularly important.

“It’s really special for Matt to get real, connected time with Karen Page,” Cox said. “That’s something the show’s been teasing for 10 years — a moment where the stars could align to bring them together in a romantic way. I think Karen Page is Matt Murdock’s true love; she’s his soulmate. There’s something kind of tragically romantic about having them finally get together and seek comfort in one another during the darkest period in their lives.”
The Decision
As explained by Scardapane, each Born Again character has a choice to make. That decision will have lasting consequences.
“Each character comes to a point where they have to make a decision and they have to choose a side,” he teases. “And each one of them, in making that decision, has to pay a price.”

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will debut March 24 on Disney+.
