Kathryn Hahn: Agatha is “Resting”
According to an interview with the The New York Times, Kathryn Hahn says that Agatha is at peace with the fate that awaited her in the final episode of WandaVision, “The Series Finale.” As always, if you haven’t had a chance to catch the episode yet, you may want to navigate away from this page to avoid spoilers!
Agnes All Along?
At the conclusion of the climactic battle between Agatha and the now fully-forged Scarlet Witch, Wanda is able to defeat Agatha by casting runes and thereby declaring dominion over the space in which the battle was taking place (a trick Wanda learned from Agatha in the previous episode, “Previously On”).
However, while many of the Westview citizens who were subjected to Wanda’s reality warping power inside the Hex were outraged by the treatment to which they had been received, Hahn told the New York Times that she believes Agatha would be accepting of her fate – at least for the moment.
“I think she was very lonely, for a very long time,” Hahn said. “She loves having the companionship – loves the mailman, loves Ralph, loves Dottie.”
While Hahn is at peace where Agatha ends up at the conclusion of the season, she does admit that it wasn’t her number one choice for the outcome of the conflict between the two witches: “I felt that very strongly… there was a possibility that [Wanda and Agatha would] join up,” Hahn said. “That she’d collapse into my arms and we’d fly off together…”
Here at Marvel Blog, we thought that was a possibility too! After all, Agatha only had time to teach Wanda one trick, and look how well that turned out for the Scarlet Witch!
No Rest for the Wicked
Fortunately, Hahn makes it very clear that she’s entirely open to the return of the show-stopping Agatha Harkness to the MCU.
“Now that I have a taste of it,” Hahn said. “I really, really love it.”
Well, Agatha: the feeling is mutual! Please come back soon!
