Fancasting SEINFELD in the MCU
Happy Friday, Marvel Blog True Believers! As always, if you haven’t had a chance to see the new episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, “Truth,” released for streaming on Friday, April 16th, 2021, you’ll want to throw your phone or computer away from you like you’re wielding Captain America’s shield yourself!
If you have had a chance to see the penultimate episode of the sophomore Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe streaming series, then you’ll want to meet us at the booth in the corner of Monk’s Cafe for some serious Seinfeld fancasting speculation!

The Cast About Nothing
The most devoted Marvel Blog True Believers will know that we’re a huge fan of the sitcom homages that we have seen so far in the MCU Disney+ content, namely through the TGIF-influenced WandaVision.
In that show, many of the actors had neat sitcom meta-jokes contained within their casting. In that spirit, we’re going to fancast the Seinfeld characters in the MCU!
Jason Alexander
First up is Jason Alexander, who played perpetual sad sack George Costanza on the beloved NBC sitcom.

We think Alexander would be perfect for the ever lovin’ THING! Not only can we imagine Alexander’s voice perfectly delivering lines about “clobberin’ time,” but this casting would include a bit of a meta-joke, as Alexander previously voiced one of the three gargoyles in the 1996 Disney adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Jerry Seinfeld
Next up is Jerry Seinfeld, who plays a fictionalized version of himself in Seinfeld.

We’re going to go ahead and double down on this meta-joke and say that Seinfeld should appear as himself in the MCU… and guess what, True Believers?

This is technically comic accurate, as in Invincible Iron Man #1 (1998) by Kurt Busiek, Sean Chen, Eric Cannon, Liquid!, and RS/Comicraft/DL, Tony Stark himself gets a congratulatory telegram from Mr. Seinfeld!

Michael Richards and Wayne Knight
And finally, let’s cast Michael Richards, who played Cosmo Kramer.

“Don’t you worry, your Honor – he’s in my custody.” Photo: NBC
We think that Kramer’s unexpected entries match perfectly with a certain Marvel Comics character: the Silver Surfer! Better yet, this pairs the actor with another Seinfeld alum in a fancasted MCU role: Wayne Knight, who played nemesis Newman, would be perfect as Galactus.

Don’t tell me you can’t hear Newman saying this! The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #4 (2015) by Ryan North, Erica Henderson, Chris Giarrusso, Rico Renzi, and Clayton Cowles. Photo: Marvel Comics
Of course, you may have noticed that there’s one Seinfeld actor who we didn’t fancast – because we now know she’s already in the MCU!
Move Over Zemo!
Move over Zemo, there’s a new bad dancer in town! That’s because in “Truth,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus was revealed to be Madame Hydra (or at least it seems fairly certain). This supervillain is intimately tied to John Walker’s turn towards something sinister, so we don’t think we’ve seen the last of her.

What do you think of our Seinfeld MCU fancast? What sitcom do you hope gets paid homage to next by the MCU Disney+ shows? Marvel Blog is waiting to hear from you!
Patrick Warburton has also appeared in the MCU sometime around the 70’s as S.H.I.E.L.D Director Rick Stoner.
That’s a good one! HIGH FIVE!
