Let’s Talk MARVEL’S M.O.D.O.K. Bi Rep (& Possible 2nd Season)
“Am I a good dad? I’m a good dad. Doo, doo, doo, doo. Doo, doo, doo.” – Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., probably.
Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. is the stop-animation series from Marvel Studios and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, arriving on Hulu on May 21st, 2021. Marvel’s list of villains is longer than a CVS receipt. At Marvel Blog, one of our favorite rogues in the gallery is M.O.D.O.K., and we’ve been wondering what he does when he’s not trying to take over the world.
What does a down-and-out Super Villain do with ALLLLLL his free time, anyway? The short and cryptic answer is that he moves to the suburbs to experience suburban bliss (?) straight out of the Wonderful World of WandaVision… someone’s vying for the spot of top Nexus Being in the Marvel Multiverse.
Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. Q & A
Well, hench-folk, we got some answers! Yesterday, Marvel Entertainment’s Official Twitter account tweeted an announcement about a question and answer session on the bird app with M.O.D.O.K. – you know, to prepare for total world domination.
M.O.D.O.K. will be answering your questions about world domination…and the upcoming @MarvelsMODOK on a new #AskMarvel! Tweet us all your Qs now with the hashtag and stay tuned! @pattonoswalt pic.twitter.com/RwLb6w1QpC

And when the call went out, this intrepid reported was armed and ready with a question for the iconic Marvel villain who’s been wearing a giant face shield since before it was cool. And excitingly, we got an answer from none other than series co-creator Jordan Blum!
Yes, Melissa is bi. Season 1 focuses mostly on her relationship with her dad but season 2 will introduce her girlfriend. However there are other queer relationships on the show.

Important Take Away: Melissa Is Bisexual
If you’re curious just what connection a Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing has with idyllic suburban bliss, you aren’t alone… but the answers you seek may be closer than you imagine: your local comic book shop!
In the four-issue mini-series M.O.D.O.K.: Head Games by Blum, Patton Oswalt, Scott Hepburn, Carlos Lopez, and Travis Lanham, readers get a look at what may be the foundations for the Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. animated series on Hulu.
In M.O.D.O.K.: Head Games #2, one page shows M.O.D.O.K.’s daughter, Melissa, voiced by Melissa Fumero on the series, lamenting to her mother (Aimee Garcia on the show) that Melissa’s girlfriend has broken up with her over a text message.
When I read this page, I got especially excited that Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. might include queer representation, and as you can see above, we have confirmation from none other than Blum himself that bisexual representation is coming to the Marvel Multiverse.
It turns out that Melissa is indeed bi, and that there will be additional queer representation on the show, as well (although it remains to be seen what form that may take). As a member of this group, I’m excited to see this relationship play out onscreen.
According to Blum, he gifted the page to voice actor Fumero, in honor of her excellent work on the character.
Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. May Get Second Season
Blum also noted that the stop-animated Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. may get a second season!
In a follow-up response to my wife, Avery Kaplan, Blum clarified that while a second season would explore more of Melissa’s relationships, it’s currently unclear whether or not Hulu will be renewing the series.
Haha, if we get a season 2.
