REVIEW: Meet Your Favorite STAR WARS Character in Doctor Aphra #10
In Doctor Aphra #10 by Alyssa Wong, Ray-Anthony Height, Victor Olazaba, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Joe Caramagna, with a cover by Joshua “Sway” Swaby & Guru-eFX, Doctor Aphra is in way over her head, about to be disintegrated by an unstable experimental hyperdrive… and that’s just in the opening panels!

The way I see it, Star Wars has three factions: the Jedi (who are too arrogant for their own good), the Sith (who are too arrogant for our own good), and the smugglers, who are the real heroes just trying to make do… and when it comes to the smuggler class, no one out smugglers Doctor Aphra!
Doctor Aphra #10
This issue takes two of the best characters in the entire Star Wars galaxy, Sana Starros and Doctor Chelli Aphra, and puts them in uncomfortably close quarters.
In Doctor Aphra #10, this means that while the big action is playing out in the background (what with exploding experimental hyperdrives and all), in the foreground, the two women are messily arguing with one another – bringing up ex-girlfriends and arguing over whether or not to be a hero.

In other words: this is a great issue! It contains two funny, charismatic characters trying to sort out their differences while a high-stakes, explosive action sequence plays out at the same time: if that isn’t just about as Star Wars as it gets, then I don’t know what is!

Suffice to say that by the end of the issue, which is suitably labeled as a “prelude,” Aphra and Starros (not to mention Just Lucky and Ariole) are heading for a collision with the main War of the Bounty Hunters players. This means that Luke Skywalker may be running into Aphra again, and when someone as fundamentally good as Luke is put into a scene with someone as fundamentally… Aphra as Aphra, that’s where the fun begins.

This issue features great art, especially when it comes to character expressions during interactions with one another, and the last page, which I won’t reveal (but which has some amazing symmetry).

War of the Bounty Hunters #1
After Doctor Aphra #10, next up for Aphra and the rest of the players in the War of the Bounty Hunters event is War of the Bounty Hunters #1, which is scheduled for arrival at your local comic shop in June.
