ARENA OF HEROES Score Top Simulcast Spot!
According to a report posted to sports website Awful Announcing, the ESPN Marvel themed event “Arena of Heroes” scored the top spot when compared with other themed simulcast events. Could this mean that we can look forward to more Arena of Heroes events in the future? We sure hope so, Marvel Blog True Believers!
Earth’s Mightiest Simulcast
The Awful Announcing article states that Sports Media Watch reported that 274,000 people (of which my household was one) tuned in to watch the “Arena of Heroes” broadcast, which combined Marvel story elements with a NBA game to create a singular event.
The event was hosted by announcers Ryan Ruocco, Richard Jefferson, and Marvel Voices podcast host extraordinaire Angélique Roché, the special broadcast integrated Marvel graphics and characters into the proceedings for an incredible sporting event.
This looks like such an amazing event!@AngeliqueRoche you’re in this clip! #Loki #TVA #LokiWednesdays #Mobius #MissMinutes #Marvel @MarvelStudios https://t.co/fEK7dB0b60

The Monday, May 3rd NBA game saw the Pelicans playing against the Warriors, and Anthony Mackie even appeared for a lengthy interview during the game proceedings (if you’re wondering, he was rooting for the New Orleans team).
Apparently, “Arena of Heroes” garnered more views than a “Daily Wager” gambling broadcast on April 14th and a “Starcast” on April 25th, so Marvel Blog is calling for more.
“Arena of Heroes” Winner
The “Arena of Heroes” event pitted several players against one another, using special scoring rubrics to determine who would be crowned the game’s Champion (possibly for a future Marvel-themed Contest of… something! Help me out here, Marvel Blog True Believers).
After the game, Draymond Green, who was awarded the title of Champion, was interviewed for the simulcast. He emphasized how proud he was to have been awarded the title, and noted that his kids would be overjoyed to have learned that he had earned the respect of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Another “Arena of Heroes”?
With the “Arena of Heroes” simulcast being more successful than other comparable events, is it possible we will see another game like it in the future? We’re crossing our fingers! Let us know what you think in the comment section.
