REVIEW: SILK #4 Soars!
In Silk #4 by Maurene Goo, Takeshi Miyazawa, Ian Herring, and Ariana Maher, with a main cover by Pyeong Jun Park, the pieces that have been laid out in the previous three issues begin to come together… and you’re going to want to see what they look like when they do, Marvel Blog True Believers!
Silk’s Scintillating Structure
One of my favorite things about this series is shaping up to be the incredible structure, especially in Silk #4 with its amazing use of alternating color schemes as a way to show which scenes are flashbacks! Each of the four issues has been a distinct episode with a distinct feel, and while each of them has been wholly satisfying in and of themselves, they are adding up to something that is more than their whole.
The first issue introduced us to Cindy Moon, (A.K.A. Silk) and her current situation, while the second ratched up the tension on all fronts. However, in the third issue, it seems as though Silk was really sinking into the metaphorical quicksand!
But in the fourth issue, we get something of a shift in perspective (thanks to Cindy’s journalistic skills), learning more about the backstory of both antagonists (you’ll see what I mean). And if you got a chance to read Silk #3, rest assured that you will see plenty of the characters who appeared as the last-page reveal in that issue!
At the end of the issue, the story is in the perfect place to progress to the next issue… and you can bet that what’s coming next is going to be just as exciting, Marvel Blog True Believers! For one thing, we bet that J. Jonah Jameson’s storyline will be figuring into next month’s issue, and that can only spell one thing for a Spider-Story: trouble!
