Second Printing
What does it mean when a comic goes back for a second printing? Well, the short version is, it’s good news, Marvel Blog True Believers!
This means that the book has sold out at the distribution level. In other words, you may still be able to pick up a copy from the first printing of Marvel’s Voices: Pride at your local comic shop right now.
However, because so many shops ordered more copies, Marvel Comics decided that when they ran out of the copies of Marvel’s Voices: Pride they had printed during the first run, the demand was great enough that they would order another round of copies of the book. However, to distinguish the second printing from the first, it will feature a brand-new cover, featuring a rainbow background and husbands Wiccan (Billy Kaplan) and Hulking.
There’s another great benefit when a book goes back for a second printing: it means that Marvel Comics is more likely to produce a sequel (or other related title) in the future! They have seen that there is demand for the kind of book that has sold out, and they produce more books like it.
When my wife, Avery Kaplan, interviewed Burnstad for Prism Comics, she hinted there was a chance that we might get another issue of Marvel’s Voices: Pride next June. Fingers crossed, Marvel Blog True Believers!
