Make-A-Wish Helps Make ‘Black Widow’ Dream Come True
Marvel Studios and Make-A-Wish recently teamed up to bring another wish to life for a young Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, Seth, who had the dream of meeting the sound team for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, which was recently released for streaming and theatrical release on July 9th, 2021.
Make-A-Wish: Dreams Do Come True
The Make-A-Wish teen, Seth, lives with a blood disorder, and dreams of working in the movie industry as a sound engineer. While in high school, the emerging sound engineer worked as a member of the sound crew for his school’s stage productions, and it’s something that has become a source of joy for the young man.
In the official press release, he shared, “Sound became something that I could control, and my wish gave me a chance to see the industry up close and personal.”
For this young audiophile, his wish was to meet Black Widow‘s sound team so that he could learn more about the process of sound editing in the film industry. And with the help of Make-A-Wish, in February 2020, Seth traveled from his home in Georgia to The Walt Disney Studios lot in California to make his wish come true.
Not only did Seth have the opportunity to visit Marvel Studios HQ, but he also had the chance to meet the sound editing teams behind Marvel’s Black Widow. Excitingly for the young fan, the film’s sound editing teams allowed him to participate in a post-production sound mixing session, and he got to have one-on-one sessions with the different audio teams responsible for the various audio elements that go into making a movie scene.
Seth said in the official press release, “I learned how much work goes into bringing movies to life. I gained a lot of respect for the industry.”
Seth Sees Black Widow
Seth went to see the first showing of Black Widow at his local theater because he was so excited to see his contributions to the film (and at Marvel Blog, we don’t blame him, that’s pretty darn exciting). The press release states:
He couldn’t wait to hear the finalized sound elements in the scenes he got to work on. In honor of his experience with the sound editing team during his wish day, Seth’s name has been included in the film’s end credits as the team’s sound intern. It was a proud moment for Seth to have his friends see his name on the big screen. Due to the combined efforts of the sound editing team, Marvel Studios and Make-A-Wish, his unique wish has become an unforgettable experience that continues to inspire his career goals today.
