MARVEL/RICK & MORTY FAN ART: Aw Jeez, It’s STEVE & PETEY!
Aw jeez, something really weird’s going on, Marvel Blog True Believers! In a Tweet sent on Saturday, August 28th, 2021, Doctor Strange (2016) co-writer C. Robert Cargill sent a Tweet that combined the hottest trailer on the internet (that’s Spider-Man 3: No Way Home) with the popular Adult Swim animated comedy series Rick and Morty.
MEANWHILE, in another part of the multiverse… pic.twitter.com/dj7hFp9sLq

Rick & Morty x Marvel
This isn’t the first time that Rick and Morty’s Dimension C-137 has veered dangerously close to Earth-616 of Marvel Comics (or Earth-199999 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
The fifth season of Rick and Morty, which will see its final two episodes airing on Adult Swim next Sunday, September 5th, 2021, has included plenty of references to Marvel, and especially the MCU.
In the first episode of the season, “Mort Dinner Rick Andre,” a character who bears a striking resemblance to King Namor appeared. Plus: Rick & Morty as Blades!
In the cold opening of “Rickdependance Day,” Smith matriarch Beth is taking Morty to see “the new Marvel movie.” This episode aired on July 11th, 2021, just a few days after the July 9th, 2021 release of Black Widow. While this is probably just a coincidence… it was still very cool to hear Beth reference a movie that I had just streamed on Disney+ a few days earlier!
And in “Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort,” the A.I. that runs Rick’s garage compares herself to Jarvis before bonding with a neighbor over his love of Marvel movies.
More Marvelous Rick & Morty?
Will we be seeing more Marvel when the Rick and Morty one-hour season finale airs on Adult Swim on Sunday, September 5th? Will Cargill’s fanart prove prophetic when Rick and Morty actually appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
