ONLINE OPP: Watch Marvel’s Midnight Suns Sabertooth Showdown
Are you as excited about the upcoming Marvel’s Midnight Suns video game, designed by Firaxis Games and 2K Games, as we are, Marvel Blog True Believers?
The details about this new and unique game are starting to arrive, and let’s just say we can’t wait until March 2022 finally arrives and we get to play for ourselves! Fortunately, in the meantime, there is plenty of footage being released to whet our gaming appetites. One of the most exciting will take place on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 at this link: you can tune in at 11:30 AM Pacific Time to witness the battle between Hunter (the game’s protagonist), Wolverine, and Sabretooth!
Just like the Comics!
In previous coverage of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, which will be available on all major consoles and PC when it arrives in March 2022, we mentioned that it’s clear that the people behind the scenes of the game are obviously huge fans of Marvel Comics. That’s even more clear than ever with the decision to debut game footage featuring Wolverine and Sabretooth.
As noted by the official Marvel’s Midnight Suns website, Wolverine and Sabretooth have been at each others’ throats since the 1980s, when they both appeared on the cover of Power Pack #27, and the duo went claw-to-claw again in Uncanny X-Men #212.
The fact that the Marvel’s Midnight Suns crew specifically wants us to think about those early comic book clashes in advance of the gameplay fight between the two characters is a very cool thing, Marvel Blog True Believers, especially for a game so steeped in comic book lore!
No Microtransactions
Marvel’s Midnight Suns‘ promises to be highly customizable, with the game’s protagonist, The Hunter, having over 40 abilities and three paths to choose from, emphasizing the light and dark potential of the characters – another nod to the comics, Marvel Blog True Believers!
Another development was confirmed by the official Marvel’s Midnight Suns Twitter account: this game will not have microtransactions for the battle card system.
Hey folks, regarding our battle card system, there are no loot boxes in Marvel's @MidnightSuns or related microtransactions to get more cards (i.e. Gamma Coils). We will have purely cosmetic character skins for purchase that do not affect game balance in any way https://t.co/lHhdwbMpSZ

However, you will be able to pay for some DLC that includes new costumes that only have cosmetic characteristics so that players with more money don’t have an unfair advantage in this new tactical RPG (and as a former World of Warcraft player, that’s a great addition to the gameplay)…
Plus, even if you don’t want to pay for additional DLC, there will be plenty of cosmetic items to unlock in the standard version of the game.
