Marvel Zombies Are Coming to Get You, Banner!
In a clip released on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, the official Marvel Entertainment Twitter account teased the arrival of one of the most highly anticipated episodes of What If…? yet: “What If… Zombies?”

“What If… Zombies?”
The clip opens with what appears to be a Time Variance Authority (TVA) report on a Nexus Event, and I really hope this episode is heavily influenced by the comics, Marvel Blog Undead Believers… so that we see multiple Nexus Events with multiple instances of world devouring (and with zombie Strange in the mix, anything is possible)!
The original text describes Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) as he appeared in the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, at which point he was transported by Bifrost to the Sanctum Sanctorum, where he warned the Avengers of the impending arrival of Thanos.

However, according to the text in this clip, when Banner arrives home in the What If…? timeline, he finds the one thing we’re all afraid of: the undead!
The clip goes on to show the Avengers fighting back wave after wave of zombies (with various degrees of success), plus what appears to be a Night of the Living Dead-style shot of a field full of the undead outside of Wakanda (maybe T’Star-Lord is still there to help out).
We’ve already seen both Clint Barton and Steve Rogers turned into zombies in promotional posters for the movie… let’s hope Banner manages to stay ahead of the gnashing jaws!
As anyone who has read any of the Marvel Zombies comics is well aware, Hulk is a big problem when he’s undead… Somebody call Yellowjacket and get this guy goo-ified before it’s too late for all of us!
Plus, given that this story apparently takes place around the time of Infinity War, that means that a zombie version of Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) is possible. Seems dangerous to me! The last time a dimension-hopping being became a zombie (Howard the Duck), he immediately started munching… brainnnnnnsssssss so yummy so brainy… WAUGH!
