REVIEW: Deadpool Infinity Comic #1
Today, September 30th, 2021, the first episode of the brand-new Deadpool Infinity Comic was released on the Marvel Unlimited App! Written by Gerry Duggan, with art by Lucas Werneck, layouts by Geoffo (and what’s cool about this is Marvel went with someone with WEBTOON experience), colors by Rachelle Rosenberg, and letters by Joe Sabino, the story puts Deadpool in the scrolling format… and does he ever look good!

“Invisible Touch”
First and foremost, shout-out to this comic for putting Deadpool in the scrolling format the right way (wait until you get to the final image, just saying)!
There are multiple gags and images that take advantage of the scrolling format in this episode, including a guest-starring role for Stilt-Man, and it really takes advantage of the WEBTOON-style to play with perspective.
The general “style” of many webcomics remains intact as well, with Deadpool frequently addressing the reader while images of individual characters against white backgrounds float up your cell phone screen.
The story is not unfamiliar territory for Deadpool: he’s going to infiltrate a supervillain auction!
It seems that while Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic were dead (it happens to those types on occasion), the respective patents were inherited by Damage Control. When Damage Control had their servers hacked, the data was stolen, and now a bunch of baddies are bidding on it – and it’s up to Wade, in a dubious (at best) disguise, to do something about it!
No spoilers, but I very much enjoyed the unlikely character who Deadpool teams-up with at the end of this issue (and who I assume will be appearing in the next issue, as well).
Overall this was a fun start to the story, and I laughed several times… What else do you want from the Merc with a Mouth? And honestly, as I return to edit this review the following morning, I am STILL laughing at some of those gags.
