REVIEW: This Is the End in Extreme Carnage: Omega #1
In the conclusive issue of Marvel Comics’ Extreme Carnage crossover event, Extreme Carnage: Omega #1 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Manuel Garcia, Cam Smith, Guru-eFX, and Travis Lanham, with a main cover by Dave Rapoza, we get the long-awaited conclusion to the story that we’ve been following since Extreme Carnage: Alpha #1 back in July 2021 (how the time flies when you’re enjoying the Carnage, Marvel Blog True Believers)!
Lots of Payoff
In Extreme Carnage: Omega #1, readers finally see the setup from the previous Extreme Carnage issues pay off (in a wonderfully messy carnage-wrapped package)! This means that the issue pulls from elements that were introduced all the way back in the first issue, like Iron Man’s “Extrembiote Armor” (say it out loud, it sounds great).
Plus, in Omega, we finally get to see the political rally that Senator Krane has been teasing since the very beginning of this story.
If you haven’t been following the many issues in this crossover event – especially ones like Extreme Carnage: Toxin #1 and Extreme Carnage: Scream #1 – you may have a hard time following everything that takes place in this story, which pulls in elements from each of the preceding issues. But that sort of makes sense, Marvel Blog True Believers: this is the conclusive issue, after all, and it has to tie up all the cliffhangers from the previous chapters in this narrative!
If you love the symbiotes as much as me, however, it may not matter if you’ve been following along for the entire series: although the pay-off of seeing the individual symbiotes team-up to take on Senator Kane and the Friends of Humanity is better if you’ve read the entire miniseries, the creative team’s innovative use of violence doesn’t disappoint… Marvel Blog thinks Tom Savini would be proud!
And rest assured, when this comic concludes, you’ll still want to know what happens next… That’s the Mighty Marvel Method of storytelling, Marvel Blog True Believers! Judging by the ad in the back, if you want to read more of these plot threads moving forward, you’ll want to check out the new Venom series.
