WandaVision’s Elizabeth Olsen to Portray Murderer Candy Montgomery
Calling all WandaVision (or Hannibal) fans! According to Collider, Elizabeth Olsen fans have their first glimpse at their favoriten actress in Love and Death, a limited series coming to HBOMax in 2022. On October 14th, 2021, HBO released the first images from the highly anticipated Love and Death true crime series, which stars Olsen as Texas housewife Candy Montgomery, who murdered Betty Gore in 1980 with an axe.
Love & Death
With Lionsgate Television, Love and Death is from the Big Little Lies and The Undoing duo of David E. Kelley and Nicole Kidman. Written by Kelley and directed by Homeland‘s Lesli Linka Glatter, Love and Death is inspired by Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs by Jim Atkinson and John Bloom, who is more widely known as horror host Joe Bob Briggs, and two articles from Texas Monthly (“Love & Death In Silicon Prairie,” Part I & Part II).

The ax murder of Texas housewife and mother of two, Betty Gore, made headlines in 1980. At first, the police could not believe that a small woman could brutality chop someone to pieces, but soon suspicion fell on Candy Montgomery, a petite housewife who was having an affair with Betty’s husband, Allan Gore. When Montgomery and Allan’s affair ended, the two families remained close, and eventually, Betty confronted her “friend” about the affair, leading to the slayings.

In court, Montgomery argued that it was Betty who attacked her with an axe and that she was just acting in self-defense. There were 41 wounds on Betty’s body when she was found, a number that didn’t factor into the jury’s decision to acquit Montgomery, according to an interview with a juror in the The Dallas Morning News.

The limited series is currently filming in Kyle, TX, according to Deadline.
Love & Death Cast
Not only is the miniseries in one of my favorite genres, true crime, it also has an amazing cast. Joining Olsen, Jessica Jones actress Krysten Ritter as Sherry Cleckler, American Horror Story‘s Lily Rabe as Betty Gore, Jungle Cruise‘s Jesse Plemons as Allan Gore, and Almost Famous actor Patrick Fugit as Pat Montgomery. Keir Gilchrist, Elizabeth Marvel, and Tom Pelphrey also star in the upcoming series.

Thus far, HBO has only released images of Olsen as the Texas housewife, who is singing in her church’s choir and dining at an outdoor restaurant with an unknown partner.
Love and Death is expected to hit HBO Max sometime in 2022.
