REVIEW: Strange Academy Presents The Death of Doctor Strange
Are you looking for a most worthy one-shot, Marvel Blog True Believers? Then consider Strange Academy Presents The Death of Doctor Strange! This tie-in to the ongoing Death of Doctor Strange event checks in with the school Strange started. Now that Strange is dead, classes are out of session… and that leads to some very interesting outcomes!
Iric and Alvi
First up are Iric and Alvi, the twin children of Enchantress, who are featured in the main story, which is written by Skottie Young and features art by Mike Del Mundo, colors by Del Mundo and Marco D’Alfonso, and letters by Clayton Cowles. Things go wrong when a wizard staved off by Doctor Strange returns because he died!
Let me just say that you have to see the art in this story to believe it. There are some incredible details in basically every panel, and the characters are dynamic and engaging throughout. The story sees one of the boys teaming up with his mother to rescue his brother from Weirdworld, which lives up to its name. This comic comes to a wholesome conclusion and leaves you better liking all of the main characters.
And did I mention the art? Yowza!
Remaining Student Body
You may be asking yourself: now that classes have been cancelled at Strange Academy due to the Sorcerer Supreme’s passing, what will the rest of the students do?
Answers come in the form of a series of one-page comics, each written by Young and featuring art by a whole slough of talented creators: Niko Henrichon, Peach Momoko, Humberto Ramos, Edgard Delgado, Alessandro Cappuccio, Gustavo Duarte, C.F. Villa, David Baldeón, Luciano Vecchio, and Natacha Bustos.
If you’re saying, “But that’s basically a roll call of some of the best talent Marvel has to offer,” you’re absolutely correct! Are you getting the picture? Our cup really flows over with this outstanding one-shot!
