Marvel’s Voices: Legacy Returns in February 2022!
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, it was announced that Marvel’s Voices: Legacy will be returning in February 2022.
Marvel’s Voices: Legacy
Marvel’s Voices: Legacy is the title that launched the Marvel’s Voices line of anthology comics, each volume of which celebrates a various marginalized groups’ perspectives. The Legacy title specifically focuses on Black creator’s creative voices (as well as Black characters within the Marvel Universe). Other titles in the series include Marvel’s Voices: Pride, celebrating queer voices and characters, Marvel’s Voices: Heritage, highlighting Indiginous voices and characters, Marvel’s Voices: Identity, celebrating Asian American voices and characters, and Marvel’s Voices: Comunidades, featuring Latino and Latin creators and characters.
Only some of the creators who will be involved have been announced so far, but here’s who Marvel has confirmed is involved: writers Cody Ziglar, Victor LaValle, J. Holtham, and Maria Frölich.
In addition, Natacha Bustos, who you probably know from her Stormbreakers variant covers or her incredible run on the art for 2015’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, will be making her writing debut! You can see more of Bustos if you watch Marvel’s 616 season one episode three, “Amazing Artisans”… an apt episode title if ever there was one!
As far as art on the issue goes, both Bustos and Frölich will be serving double duty, providing both writing and art (think of it like being a superhero and having a secret identity, maybe… or perhaps it’s more of a Hulk style, “I’m always creative” thing).
And the cover art will be provided by ChrisCross, who has been the layout artist on Static Season One from our friends at the Distinguished Competition’s excellent Milestone imprint (the “Distinguished Competition” means DC Comics, loyal Marvel Comics readers)!
