The Watcher Takes Center Stage in March
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Thursday, December 15th, 2021, it was revealed that Uatu the Watcher will be headlining a special one-shot issue that will be released on March 16th, 2022!
Reckoning War: Trial of the Watcher #1 will be written by Dan Slott and will feature a main cover and interior art by Javier Rodríguez.

The one-shot issue will be a tie-in to the Fantastic Four: Reckoning War event, which will begin on February 2nd, 2022 (that’s a lot of twos, Marvel Blog True Believers) with Fantastic Four: Reckoning War Alpha #1.
This highly anticipated event has been fifteen years in the making, and Slott promises that it will have major ramifications for the Watcher. The event concerns the First War that took place in the Marvel Universe, before Asgard, Galactus, or any familiar superheroes were around… but now, that war is beginning anew.

“[The original war] is something the Watchers have been keenly aware of,” said Slott in a quote included in the article on Marvel.com. “The possible thought of it happening again brought Uatu back.”
According to the article, there’s just one “What If…?” that the Watcher has always avoided… but now he will have to face it! This sounds similar to the conundrum faced by the “Hands-On Watcher” of What If…? (voiced by the Marvelous Jeffery Wright) over the course of the first season of the animated anthology series on Disney+.
