Michael Okuda Tweets Picture of Spider-Man!
In a Tweet sent on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, Michael Okuda posted a picture of himself with Spider-Man!
Throwback to last June, when I ran into a childhood hero at the studio store on the Sony Pictures lot, during lunch break while working on the 3rd season of For All Mankind. pic.twitter.com/oj3JtPJZDK

Okuda & Spidey
Okuda is a graphic designer and self-proclaimed space geek who is an outspoken proponent of the science-based COVID-19 vaccine. Some of his best-known work comes from his significant and ongoing contributions to the Star Trek universe.
Just one example is the book he co-wrote with Rick Sternbach, Star Trek: The Next Generation: Technical Manual (1991). Subtitled A fascinating look inside the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701-D, this incredible book – which includes diagrams of the Federation’s flagship and technical details about its operation – even includes an insightful introduction by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.
Okuda continues to be involved with the Star Trek franchise to the present day, having more recently designed the California-Class logo for the ships featured on Star Trek: Lower Decks.
In a background shot in this weeks' #StarTrekLowerDecks, we see what appears to be the logo for the California-class starship line on a Master Systems Display monitor.
(This is not a story spoiler.)
Hope we'll see a larger version of both the MSD and the Cali-class logo soon! pic.twitter.com/IYNeBXEe9d

During a visit to the Sony Pictures lot he made in June 2020 (in order to work on the third season of For All Mankind on Apple TV+), Okuda ran into an old friend at the lot’s studio store: a full-sized model of Spider-Man!
What was Spidey doing at Sony instead of Disney? The studios share the rights to the superhero due to an agreement made a couple decades ago (hence why we have to wait with bated breath for news of more Spidey movies, Marvel Blog True Believers).
Okuda took the opportunity to take a selfie with the Marvel superhero, which he posted on Twitter for Throwback Thursday. As for the Spidey in question, his costume appears to be based off the design of the one worn by Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
Get me pictures of Spider-Man!
Have you snapped any photos of yourself with Spider-Man lately? Did you get a chance to see Okuda’s Cali-Class logo in the second season of Lower Decks?
