Scott Pilgrim (Feat. Envy Adams) Gets Anime
Scott Pilgrim, the six-volume comic book series by Brian Lee O’Malley that began in 2006, is getting a new anime adaptation on Netflix. We just have one question, Marvel Blog True Believers: who will be playing Envy Adams in the new animated version of the classic comic book story?
Envy Adams
The Scott Pilgrim series was published by Oni Press, and followed the eponymous character as he faced off against the seven evil exes of Ramona Flowers… although the drama is further complicated thanks to his unresolved issues with his ex, Envy Adams.
At the time Scott was dating Envy, she was going by Natalie, but she’s updated her moniker to better serve her role as frontwoman of the extremely popular band The Clash at Demonhead (her middle initial is “V,” hence the stage name).
In the 2010 big-screen live-action adaptation, directed by Edgar Wright (who worked on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Ant-Man for a decade before being taken off the project), includes many Marvelous actors, including Captain America himself, Chris Evans… and in the role of Envy Adams is another Marvelous Cap: Brie Larson (that’s Captain Marvel to you)!
In that adaptation, Larson stole the show with a cover of the song “Black Sheep,” originally by the band Metric. And by “stole the show,” we mean people are still talking about this version of the song a decade later.
Who will play the role of Envy Adams in the Netflix anime adaptation? Only time will tell, Marvel Blog True Believers. But one thing’s for sure: whoever the actor ends up being, they will have some pretty big boots to fill!
