Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 Script Was DONE
In an article posted to ScreenRant on Saturday, January 15th, 2022, it was reported that, in an interview with the website, writer James Vanderbilt revealed that a version of the script for the fourth movie in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man series had been completed when the project was canceled due to “artistic and creative differences.”

In an interview with ScreenRant about the newly released movie Scream, Vanderbilt revealed that a version of the script for Spider-Man 4 was completed before Raimi left the project.
“Yeah so, Spider-Man 4, we had a full script sort of read to go, and as is sort of the case when you’re a working features writer, they brought in some other great writers to punch it up,” Vanderbilt told ScreenRant. “They changed some things, and I think about a year later, they got a point where – and I don’t know why – but they got to a point where they decided that wasn’t the road they were going to go down.”
The return of Tobey Maguire to the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home has once again fueled speculation around Raimi’s Spider-Man 4, arguably one of the greatest lost super hero movies of all time – heck, even Raimi can’t help but reminisce about it from time to time.
However, Marvel fans will at least get to see Raimi’s take on another classic her with the highly anticipated upcoming sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Given that Raimi’s original, early-2000s Spider-Man trilogy even includes a reference in dialogue to Doctor Strange (no kidding, Marvel Blog True Believers – watch ‘em again if you don’t believe me), it feels like this movie was a long time coming!
