Sony Gives ‘Madame Web’ Official Release Date
The development of their very own film universe of Spider-Man characters is continuing as Sony gives Madame Web an official release date.
Sony has continued with their plans for their very own film universe centered around Spider-Man characters; with the latest of those, Morbius, currently in the midst of a rather underwhelming theatrical run.
Venom was the very first of this Sony project, with its sequel Venom: Let There be Carnage firmly establishing Eddie Brock in this film universe, followed by the aforementioned Morbius, and the eventual arrival of Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter.
The films will be built on various characters who have canonical ties to Spider-Man the source material; although there is yet to be an announcement on who will actually inherit the mantle of Spider-Man in this Sony Universe.
Yet, it continues on course with yet another development as Sony gives Madame Web an official release date.
A film centered on the enigmatic entity of the same name, Madame Web is one of the more interesting titles to be announced by Sony for the development of this universe; with the title character relying heavily on Spider-Man for the purposes of her own narrative.
In a report via Deadline, Madame Web is now slated for a July 7, 2023 release date, with the film set to star veteran actress Dakota Johnson, with Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney being added to the cast list in recent months.
Kraven the Hunter is set to premiere to audiences early next year, with an official theatrical debut set for January 13, 2023; with filming currently underway on the popular Spider-Man villain’s solo film.
The concept Sony is imploring is an unproven one, with Morbius being the latest release, and also suffering the most financially of all of Sony’s various Spider-Man endeavors.
Still, the MCU collaborated Spider-Man: No Way Home is Sony’s most successful film to date, and is proof enough that the iconic Marvel character remains one of the most popular characters in the medium; hopefully, that means success for Sony’s developing film universe.
