‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Opens with $36 Million in Previews

The long-awaited MCU sequel has arrived with quite the bang, as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens with $36 Million in previews.

There are few films in the vast pantheons of Marvel franchises that share the level of excitement that stood for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Setting up to bring a close to the multiversal narrative that has been a focal point of the MCU’s phase four, with Doctor Strange coming off the heels of his actions in the record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Taking Marvel’s resident sorcerer and placing his head to head against the boundless unknown of the multiverse, the character promised to face off against alternate realities and Marvel heroes present outside of the MCU that we know.

With the film officially arriving today, we now have an idea of how early screenings have set the table for the film’s eventual box office results, with the output seeming like a great sign of things to come for Marvel’s newest epic.

In a report from Variety, we now know that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opened with $36 million in previews.

The report states that the latest MCU film, “earned a formidable $36 million in Thursday previews, setting the stage for what could be a massive $175 million-plus debut this weekend.”

It continued by noting that this opening, “ranks as the eighth largest preview performance ever, behind ‘Avengers: Infinity War’s $39 Million.”

The preview box office implications should speak volumes of what the film is slated to achieve in the box office, and the fact that it is still among one of the biggest MCU films of all time should prime it for a fantastic output.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a fantastic Marvel film, with some flaws and an imperfect plot, Raimi and company crafted what is the MCU’s first true horror film with fantastic visual elements and performances.
