Red Dagger Appears in New Ms. Marvel Promo
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand adding new heroes! While we recently got the Scarlet Scarab in Moon Knight, now The Red Dagger is set to appear in Ms. Marvel!
The first images of his live-action appearance have arrived from the latest Ms. Marvel promo! The MCU’s depiction of Red Dagger looks like it will be heavily inspired by the comic book iterations.
Red Dagger in Marvel Comics
The Red Dagger first appeared in Ms. Marvel (Vol. 4) #12 in 2016. A hero from Pakistan, Kareem would venture out at night to protect Pakistani citizens becoming known as The Red Dagger.
Kareem’s mother and Kamala’s aunt had gone to school together, resulting in a connection between the two with Kareem living with Kamala’s grandmother in Pakistan. Kareem would later go on to participate in a student exchange program in New Jersey living in the Khan house.
Ready to Join The MCU
In the recent promo for Ms. Marvel, we get our first glimpse of the live-action MCU iteration of the Pakistani crimefighter. Standing in front of Kamala Khan with his trademark crimson red bandana style face mask and a dagger in his right hand while standing in a strange gloomy hallway.
Kamala stands behind Kareem looking fairly distraught. Kareem also looks to be in some sort of fighting pose ready to battle whoever he is facing. It seems at this point that Kamala may not have her powers, or simply might not be using them as we can only speculate.
Further scenes from the promo show Red Dagger mid-air with what appears to be Kamala khan’s powers, or at least how they will be conveyed in the MCU. The two seem to be working as some sort of tandem.
Kareem will most likely keep his Pakistani heritage, and we are currently unaware of what changes the MCU version will have when compared to his comic book counterpart.
While we can say with a fair deal of certainty that Red Dagger will play a pivotal role as a friend and ally of Kamala Khan, we don’t really know more than that. Will The Red Dagger play the role of a crimefighting mentor? Or will both heroes be learning as they go?
Ms. Marvel is set to release on June 8th for Disney+! The series is certainly highly anticipated as it seeks to be fan-favorite Kamala Khan’s first debut in the MCU.
