Chris Hemsworth Says ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Could be His Last Marvel Movie
Over the course of a decade, he has endeared himself to Marvel fans and become one of the most recognizable names in the industry; but the end of his run as the iconic character could be approaching, as Chris Hemsworth says Thor: Love and Thunder could be his last Marvel movie.
It is a point that we have echoed here at MarvelBlog. that perhaps no Marvel Cinematic Universe hero has been as beloved by the fanbase in recent years as Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.
A character that has overcome some of the poorest outings of the MCU’s history, his endless charisma and magnetism ultimately won out, as he has had one of the most tumultuous journeys to that beloved status by the fanbase.
Since Taika Waititi reimagined the character- making great use of Hemsworth’s innate charm and comedic acumen- in the widely adored Thor: Ragnarok, it has felt like Thor has experienced a rebirth; one that has led him to be the first Avenger with a fourth solo film.
With characters like Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Widow all seeing their exit from the MCU, many fans worry when the day will come that Hemsworth hangs up Stormbreaker, and also rides off into the sunset.
As it turns out, that day may be coming sooner rather than later, as Chris Hemsworth recently stated that Thor: Love and Thunder could be his last Marvel movie.
In a recent interview with Wired, Hemsworth discussed the possibility, stating, “Well the lats [Marvel movie] I shot was ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ and it might be my last Marvel movie, I don’t know, It was a wild and fun and wacky experience, as all Taika Waititi movies are.”
He continued stating, “Played that character for ten, eleven, years now, and each time its been new and exciting, and this was no exception to that. It felt very fresh and it felt like we were trying something we hadn’t tried before.”
We do hope that this doesn’t end up being Hemsworth’s last time carrying the hammer; but with no indication of a fifth film, we can only take the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder film for what it is, and accept that the future of the character in the MCU is still unwritten.
