‘Ms. Marvel’ Writer Breaks Silence on Using THAT Word in the Finale
It was surely a moment that all Marvel fans will remember and one that we truly believe will change the very trajectory of the MCU as we know it; in a recent interview, Ms. Marvel writer Bisha K. Ali has spoken about using THAT Word in the finale episode.
Ms. Marvel has clearly been one of the MCU’s best-received projects on Disney+, and it is regarded by us as one of the most creative and unique character-driven projects that have come out of the MCU in Phase Four thus far.
The story felt so true to who Kamala Khan is, and it represented that character brilliantly, while also setting up what should be a long and fruitful future in the coming Marvel Universe.
Yet, there was a moment at the very end of the episode that changed everything for the MCU– and no, that is not hyperbole- and a statement that is sure to have massive ramifications for the Marvel Universe.
In a recent interview with Marvel.com, Ms. Marvel writer Bisha K. Ali spoke about using THAT word in the finale, and the show’s eventual arrival at that insane conclusion.
If you haven’t guessed already, there will be massive SPOILERS, for the finale of Ms. Marvel; so, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
In the final moments of the episode, Bruno confronted Kamala with the truth that her ability to wield the Noor had less to do with the bangle she had, and more to do with a genetic mutation in her DNA; making her the first official mutant in the MCU.
Ali stated, “Oh my god, the best day of my life! It wasn’t from the beginning [of the show] with Marvel, something always a movie piece, and we’re trying to solve this question of, ‘If any of [Kamala’s family] put the bangle on, would they have powers?'”
The writer continued, “The answer was always no, from a character perspective, no,” With Ali’s conclusion that giving Kamala a mutation, “fit into the logic of the wider MCU.”
It was certainly unexpected, but it opens the door to an incredible amount of possibilities, and it will forever be vitally important to the continued development of the Marvel Universe moving forward.
