Charlie Cox Reveals That Vincent D’Onofrio Never Gave Up on a ‘Daredevil’ Reboot
Following the end of Daredevil’s three-year run on Netflix, Vincent D’Onorfrio never gave up hope that Disney would bring the show’s stars back.
During a recent interview with People at last weekend’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, Daredevil star Charlie Cox revealed that when production on the series ended at the beginning of 2018, he thought it was the end.
After hearing radio silence from Marvel for two years, the actor got a call from Marvel head Kevin Feige, saying that the studio was interested in reviving the Daredevil franchise.

When neither Cox nor the rest of the cast heard back from Marvel, all hope seemed lost.
Vincent D’Onofrio Was Insistant That Marvel Would Call
While Cox gave up on a Daredevil reboot, his co-star Vincent D’Onofrio did not.

“I’d moved on and occasionally Vincent and I would chat and he would say things like, ‘Oh, they’re going to call. I think they’re going to us, but they’re going to call us,'” Cox said. “And I would get off the phone and be like, ‘The guy’s delusional! He’s got to let it go. It’s going to be 10 years and he’s still going. It’s over. It’s definitely over.”
Looking back, D’onofrio quipped that “it became really pathetic in Charlie’s eyes.”

As it turns out, however, D’Onofrio was correct. The actor would eventually reprise his role as Kingpin in Hawkeye. Months later, Cox would return to the Marvel world, portraying Matt Murdoch in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Cox Says Marvel’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Decision Was “Shocking”
By 2022, Marvel announced that a Daredevil reboot titled Daredevil: Born Again would be coming to Disney+.
“He was right. I didn’t see it. For me, it was shocking. Shocking. It was a great show and been silly for love,” Cox said.

With Daredevil: Born Agan set to land on Disney+ next year, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see Cox and D’Onofrio suit back up. Luckily, D’Onofrio kept the faith.
