Kathryn Hahn Calls the ‘Agatha All Along’ Finale a Beautiful “Goodbye” to Agatha Harkness
While the finale of Agatha All Along seemingly left the door wide open for Kathryn Hahn to reprise her role as the titular witch, Marvel has yet to confirm that we will see Agatha again.
The final episode of Agatha All Along concluded with the now-spectral Agatha and a more confident Billy/Wiccan heading off to find Tommy. Based on how the series ended, it looks like Marvel is setting up a Wiccan series that will continue the story of both the future Young Avenger and his new ghostly mentor, Agatha.
However, in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kathryn Hahn cast doubt over Agatha’s future.
“A Beautiful and Satisfying Way to Say Goodbye”
When asked what was next for her character, Hahn called the Agatha All Along finale a “beautiful and satisfying way to say goodbye.”
“Even though, obviously now, Billy/Wiccan is not her son, there is some sort of hope for her that she’s able to maybe do for him what she couldn’t do for Nicky. I think they do make a great team,” she said.
“Of course, I love this part and I love Joe Locke madly, and we’ll see what the future holds. In my mind, this was a beautiful and satisfying way to say goodbye to this incredible character I had to play.”
Despite Hahn calling the end of Agatha All Along a “goodbye,” it would be unfathomable if her fan-favorite character did not return.
Will Agatha Harkness Return?
With Wiccan reportedly set to get his own series and Wanda Maximoff’s return looming, there are multiple narrative reasons why we should see Agatha again.
Perhaps more importantly, Agatha All Along was a major success for Marvel at a time when the studio desperately needed streaming success. As the series’ strong ratings showed, there is still an appetite for more Agatha content.
If we have seen the last of Agatha Harkness, it would both hurt the MCU’s story and make little business sense.
Hopefully, Marvel will announce Agatha’s return soon.
