Jeremy Renner Gives Fans New Hope For ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2
Jeremy Renner grabbed headlines last week when he revealed that he had rebuffed Marvel’s offer for Hawkeye Season 2 after the studio asked him to take a 50% pay cut.
“They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money. I’m like, ‘Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount,’” he said.
Renner’s revelation was particularly interesting because Hawkeye had long been seen as the most likely Disney+ series to receive a second season. In fact, earlier this year, Brad Winderbaum seemed to indicate that it could still happen.

“’Hawkeye’ is another one that feels like you can make a second season of that show because it’s Christmas, because it’s Clint and Kate. You can kind of revisit it whenever, and we’re looking for opportunities to do that,” he said.
Renner Tried Not to Blame Marvel
While Renner admitted that he was offended by Marvel’s pay cut demands, he made it clear that he would still be open to playing Clint again.

“This is not Marvel, mind you. This is like, just Disney, not even really Disney. It’s just the penny pinchers, the accountants. I told them to go fly a kite. I mean, just at the insult offer. So we didn’t see eye to eye on it,” he continued.

Many fans assumed that Hawkeye Season 2 would never come to fruition based on Renner’s statements. Now, however, new hope has sprung.

In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Renner was asked about some of the rumors surrounding Hawkeye Season 2.

Interestingly, the actor revealed that he had discussed the potential narrative with Marvel.
“Maybe some of that is true in there, I don’t know,” Renner said. “We got into it, a little bit, sort of story-wise and stuff…Everybody is interested in it. I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, of course, man, I wouldn’t say no to that.’ I think there are a lot of ideas — they’ve still got to figure a lot of things out.”

Based on Renner’s recent comments, Hawkeye may come to fruition after all. If nothing else, fans have new reason to be hopeful.
