Chris Evans Admits It Is “Sad” He Will Not Be Back For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
The specter of Chris Evans has loomed large over the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as Avengers: Doomsday draws near.
With Robert Downey Jr. back in the fold, all eyes have turned to Evans, with fans holding out hope that his Steve Rogers could somehow return amid the upcoming Marvel multiversal madness.
Last December, it looked like fans would get their wish, with multiple reports emerging that Evans would suit up for Doomsday.
One month later, however, Evans told Esquire that he was happily retired from Marvel.
“That’s not true, though,” Evans said. “This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years — ever since ‘Endgame.’ I’ve just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no — happily retired!”

Now, Captain America has weighed in again.
“You Feel Like You Weren’t Invited to the Party”
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Evans was asked if he keeps in touch with his former Avengers co-stars.
After confirming that he does, the actor admitted it will be hard staying on the sidelines when Doomsday comes out.
“Yeah, I talk to them all the time,” Evans said. “It’s where Pedro [Pascal] is right now. I mean, it’s sad to be away. It’s sad to not be back with the band, but I’m sure they’re doing something incredible, and I’m sure it’s going to be that much harder when it comes out, and you feel like you weren’t invited to the party.”

Despite fans’ hopes, it sounds like Captain America is staying retired.
Still, because of Marvel’s history of surprises, secrets, and shocks, speculation that Evans will return will continue until Doomsday arrives.

On face value, however, it looks like Marvel’s heroes will be suiting up for their next adventure with the First Avenger.
