Dominique Thorne Discusses the Future of ‘Ironheart’
While we are still twelve days away from Ironheart’s debut on Disney+, fans are already starting to question Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams’s future.
Introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Williams is a genius studying at MIT who invented a flying suit of armor and a machine that could find Vibranium.

After an adventure that saw her in the midst of a war between Wakanda and Talokan, Ironheart will find Williams back home in Chicago.
What Does the Future Hold For ‘Ironheart’
In a recent interview with The Direct, Thorne was asked what she would like to see Ironheart’s future hold.
“Actually, don’t think I can even say that without spoiling everything,” explains Thorne when asked by The Direct what she’d like to explore in Ironheart season 2.

“I would like to see her explore the full range of other options presented to her in season 1… I think this time around, once again, her mind is opened about what actually exists in the world, realizing that it’s much bigger than what she thought even in her hometown, that things are so much bigger and there’s a lot more going on than she ever cared to know or to understand.”
A Big Change
By the sound of things, Riri Williams’ world is about to radically change during the events of Ironheart.
Speaking about a potential second season of the series, Thorne admitted that there was still fertile ground to explore.

“So now that she does know what’s out there, what does she choose?” The question posed by Thorne as she continues, “When she makes a choice, we know that she’ll commit. And so what does that look like for her to lean into the total left field option of what we would expect from her? I think that would be pretty cool.”
Will Riri Williams Return?
As of this writing, Riri Williams’ future in the MCU is unclear.
However, Marvel’s decision to drop Ironheart in a two three-episode installments does not suggest that the studio has faith in the show.

Created before Marvel overhauled how it made television, Ironheart may be a show done in by timing.
When asked if she had heard anything about a second season, Thorne admitted that she had not.
Perhaps, however, strong fan reaction to Ironheart will compel Marvel to continue Williams’s story.

For now, we will have to wait and see.
