Vin Diesel Hints That a New Groot Project Is in the Works

While it remains to be seen what the future holds for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, we now have confirmation that at least one of the original team members will return for another adventure.

In a recent Instagram reel, Vin Diesel revealed that he has concluded work on a mysterious Groot project.

“So much to be excited about… Finally finished the Groot sequel for our friends at Disney… The Arbor King,” Diesel wrote in the caption. “You all know the other films in process or upcoming, but something about the continuation of that beloved floral colossus just feels different.”

What Is the Project?

While Diesel quickly deleted the post, the cat is out of the bag; we are going to see more Groot. The question is, where?

Since the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel has remained mum on the future of the franchise. With James Gunn now heading the DC Universe, the prevailing notion has been that there will be no Guardians Vol. 4. With that being said, Vol. 3 left the door open for the Guardians’ adventures with Rocket Raccoon assuming leadership of a new version of the team.

Additionally, there is the possibility that Groot and his teammates pop up in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.

More ‘I Am Groot’?

Based on Diesel’s comment that there are “other” films in development, it appears that Marvel is continuing the I Am Groot series that debuted on Disney+ in 2022. The streaming series followed the adventures of Baby Groot as he grew up.
