Jake Schreier Provides and Exciting Update on His X-Men Film
With Marvel’s Multiverse Saga set to come to an end with the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, fans are already starting to look ahead to the MCU’s next chapter.
According to Kevin Feige, the post-Secret Wars MCU will focus on the X-Men, with the introduction of the Mutant Saga.
While details on what Marvel has in store for its iconic team of mutants remain scarce, we do know who Feige has chosen to introduce the next iteration of X-Men.
That honor has fallen to Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier.
Feige Revealed Schreier’s Involvement Last Month
After much speculation, Kevin Feige confirmed that Schreier will head the MCU’s first X-Men film last month.
“Yeah, it’s official. Jake Schreier is doing X-Men for us. Very lucky, and we’re very, very lucky to have him, and very excited to have him. And so we’re beginning. It’s all starting now. Script’s underway.”

“I can’t say anything about it, but we’ve started work on X-Men, and that’s obviously very, very exciting,” he said.

“The biggest learning curve for me was the proportion of the action to the more emotional, character-driven scenes, and how, even though it’s more shooting days than I’ve ever had, they get eaten up quite quickly by the action stuff,” he explained. “By the time we got to the end of it, it felt like, ‘Oh, now I feel like we get how to do this a little bit better.’”

While fans will have to wait a few years to see the X-Men make their proper debut in the MCU, it sounds like the franchise is in good hands.
