Marvel Is Already Thinking About ‘Marvel Zombies’ Season 2, But Fans Need to Do Their Part
While fans still have to wait a few more days for the debut of Marvel Zombies, the team behind the series is already discussing a possible Season 2.
A spinoff of Marvel’s What If…?, Zombies will feature a collection of undead heroes and villains living in a post-apocalyptic alternate universe.
As the first Marvel Animation series to be rated TV-MA, Zombies will usher in a new era of television for Marvel.

Needless to say, fans are excited.
Brad Winderbaum Discusses ‘Marvel Zombies’ Season 2
With just days to go until Marvel Zombies premieres, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of Streaming and Animation, says that a second season in the series is possible.

“Please, like, people have got to subscribe to Disney+ and watch this show,” Winderbaum said. “If that happens, they will get more. And we are excited. We’re ready.”
According to Winderbaum, the concept of Marvel Zombies would lend itself to more seasons.
“We had a lot of freedom, you know, in development in terms of characters we could use or where we wanted to explore. But there were certain lore considerations,” he explained.

“What Robert [Kirkman] and Sean [Phillips] did in that original book, it kind of branched off from what Mark Millar was doing. It was just a different time in the comics, a different universe. We were branching off of 616, sorry, of the MCU version of 616. The pieces on the board were in different places for us to start the story. That lore is very rich and expansive, and Brian and I nerd out all the time about other characters and other things that are happening in the universe at the same time, and where we would explore if we were so lucky to make a second season.”
Marvel’s New Strategy
Since Marvel decided to overhaul how it makes television, one of their goals has been to create series that can extend beyond a single season.

So far, Marvel… What If? ran for three seasons, and we are awaiting Season 2 of X-Men ’97.

By the sound of things, if Marvel Zombies delivers strong viewership numbers, Marvel would be more than happy to create more episodes.
