MarvelBlog News for November 23rd, 2025
We just found out which Marvel movie is up next, as one of the franchise’s best directors just told us.
Also, we’ve got more information about the Spider-Verse…but not that one.

Plus, we know who will NOT be appearing in Daredevil season two, and it’s a shocker.
This week’s MarvelBlog News ends with a big twist, one you probably won’t see coming.
I Bring You Good News

Look, we all know that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken it on the chin in the 2020s.
After more than a decade of sustained excellence, Marvel hit quite the pandemic-caused speedbump.

Even after Deadpool & Wolverine appeared to right the ship, the MCU still isn’t back on course.
This year’s trio of films performed around worst-case scenario levels from a box office perspective.

Thankfully, The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts* were great movies, which helps.
Even Captain America: Brave New World didn’t disappoint as much as early buzz would have suggested.

So, the news could be worse. Realistically, it should be much better, though, and that’s the problem.
Marvel simply cannot catch a break, which explains why executives are trying to stack the deck.

The latest example involves the return of one of Marvel’s most successful directors.
I’m thrilled to tell you that Ryan Coogler is coming back to the MCU for his next film.

Coogler confirmed that he’ll follow the spectacular success of Sinners with a Marvel movie.
You should be able to guess which one, and it’s what we’d all hoped it would be.

Yes, Coogler has started work in earnest on Black Panther 3.
That announcement is a huuuuuge deal in and of itself due to Coogler’s presence.

The director’s Sinners achievement rivals anything in his career, save for Black Panther.

Coogler did the impossible in Hollywood these days by introducing an original concept to blockbuster box office.
The reviews were equally glowing, making Sinners yet another perfect project from Coogler.

In my evaluation, Sinners somehow surpasses his achievements with the Creed franchise.
The dude is just plain great at making hit movies that are good enough to stand the test of time.

Most people in Hollywood would happily take either solid box office or a good movie.
Coogler’s ability to attain both differentiates him from almost everyone else in the industry.

MARVEL’S AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
Chadwick Boseman as T’Chaka/Black Panther
He’s in the same stratosphere as people like Christopher Nolan, yet he remains loyal to Marvel.
Generally, when a director gains this strong a reputation, they ditch their roots in favor of greener pastures.

Thankfully, Coogler feels loyalty to Black Panther as a franchise as well as what it represents.
The director and his buddy, Michael B. Jordan, elevated Black Panther into a cultural touchstone.

Of course, the late Chadwick Boseman deserves much of the credit, which ties into this subject as well.
Coogler seeks to honor his friend’s legacy by sustaining the Black Panther franchise.

For Black Panther 3, the director has called in a heavyweight to secure the brand.
Denzel Washington will star in the sequel, which is reason enough for everyone to want to see it.

With Coogler confirming that he’s working on the film now, we should get it by 2028.
That may seem like forever from now, but you should remember that the calendar flips to 2026 in a month.

Black Panther 3’s arrival is closer than you think, and it’ll unite Ryan Coogler and Denzel Washington.
So, while the MCU may have been adrift for a while, it’s back on course now.

I’ll continue with the Ryan Coogler story for just a moment, as something recently happened.
Coogler appeared at the celebration of Chadwick Boseman receiving a huge honor.

Boseman now holds a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but that’s not all.
Due to his societal significance, the late actor gained a premier spot on the path.

Coogler appeared at the ceremony and provided this emotional speech:
This was apparently the first time Coogler legitimately had to speak about Boseman’s death.

He struggles to speak at times, but that makes what he has to say all the more impactful.
I highly encourage you to watch all ten minutes of this. The MCU is lucky to have this man.

On a different note, I’ve covered Daredevil a great deal recently because so much is happening.
We’re roughly four months from the debut of season two, with season three confirmed.

The producers of the show have proudly stated all the people who will appear this season.
Apparently, the bigger story involves who won’t return, presuming a report is accurate.

Somehow, Jon Bernthal won’t return as The Punisher in season two, which shocks me.
You may recall how season one ended, and it definitely opened the door for the character’s continued appearances.

I guess Bernthal is too busy filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make that happen.
Marvel Miscellany Part II

Finally, I’ve got one juicy rumor to cover, and it involves casting for an Avengers film.
This one is going to shock you, though. So, if you don’t want to be spoiled, close this window.

Seriously, I’ll just see you next week. If you’re sensitive to spoilers, you don’t want to know this one.
Are you still here? Okay, this is your final warning. I’m about to tell you the big secret.

According to two different, unrelated Marvel insiders, Avengers: Doomsday will offer surprise casting.
Tobey Maguire (!!!) will appear as Spider-Man in this film, which is somehow equal parts shocking and logical.

Source: Sony Pictures
Given the multiversal nature of the story, Maguire’s presence makes perfect sense.
Still, his appearance in an MCU film, not an MCU-adjacent one, is a jaw-dropper.

I presume this story is getting leaked now in anticipation of someone spotting him in the teaser.
We’re only about three weeks away from its release, presuming Marvel doesn’t jump the gun.

Photo: FandomWire
With so many big college football games happening soon, I wouldn’t rule that out.
I’m not convinced that Marvel will give away Maguire’s presence here, but there’s a good reason why.

From a marketing perspective, that would elevate everyone’s perception of Avengers: Doomsday.
People would see it as another Spider-Man: No Way Home kind of dream team…and that’s the point.
