Sebastian Stan Weighs in on a Possible ‘Thunderbolts* 2’

While Marvel’s Thunderbolts* was not the box-office success many had hoped for, the film was well-received by critics and fans alike.

Hitting theaters on May 2, Thunderbolts* introduced a new super team into the MCU.

Under the watchful eye of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis Dreyfus), the MCU’s Thunderbolts brings together Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell).

By the end of the film, the Thunderbolts were introduced to the world as the New Avengers. Now residing in Avengers Tower, the team will lead Earth’s defenses in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

‘Thunderbolts* 2’?

While we know that the New Avengers will appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel has not announced that the second Thunderbolts film is in the works.

If Sebastian Stan gets his way, however, the team will suit up again.

Sebastian Stan Weighs In

During a recent appearance at Tokyo Comic-Con, Stan was asked about the future of the Thunderbolts.

“We just had a lot of fun because it was a great group of people, and everybody was very funny,” Sebastian Stan said (via The Direct).

“David Harbour [and] Wyatt Russell [are very funny] and Florence Pugh [is] really very talented. It was just a good time. If you guys like the movie, help us make another one.”

Will the New Avengers Suit Up Again?

With the New Avengers now firmly established, it is certainly possible that the team will get another film.

On the other hand, the future of the MCU and individual heroes remains contingent on the events of Doomsday and Secret Wars.

We will likely have to wait until the next Marvel multiversal adventure plays out before learning more about the New Avengers’ future.

It is good to hear, however, that Stan would be interested.
