MarvelBlog News for January 4th, 2026
Hello and welcome to another spoiler-filled edition of MarvelBlog News!
Friends, those of you who aren’t keeping up with the Avengers: Doomsday trailers should look elsewhere.

That’s all we’ll discuss in this week’s news. Presuming you’re okay with that, please read on!
What We’ve Already Learned

Despite what I just said, I’m going to warn you once again.
Anyone who doesn’t want to be spoiled about the first three trailers for Avengers: Doomsday shouldn’t be here.

We’ve spent the last two weeks discussing the other trailers, and we’re about to recap them.
Then, we’ll move on to the third of the four trailers, and it’s the most thrilling one yet.

Anyone who doesn’t want to know anything about it should go do their taxes or something.
Hey, it’s already 2026! It never hurts to plan ahead. Plus, you’ll get your refund quicker that way.

No, I’m not serious. You should be watching football and college basketball like the rest of us.
This is just your final warning before I move on to the spoilers, some of which are MASSIVE!
HERE THERE BE SPOILERS

NO SPOILERS! Photo: Infinity Comics
Okay, anybody still here should be okay with spoilers, starting with this one:
That’s the Captain America trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.

Overall, we don’t learn much about the character beyond two simple facts.
The first is that Steve Rogers seems content in retirement. And the other is that he’s a new father.

That’s a big deal in and of itself, but it becomes even more significant after watching the second clip.
Here’s the return of Thor to the MCU, and he’s got something in common with Captain America:
Yes, both teasers lean heavily into the fact that two of the anchor Avengers are parents now.

MCU fans should also remember that Tony Stark loved his daughter 3000.
So, all three of the main Avengers are parents, which makes them more…vulnerable.

Photo: Marvel Studios
Well, Iron Man isn’t vulnerable anymore since he died on the battlefield, but you get the point.
These clips show that the Avengers have more to lose now, at least on a personal level.

While the Thanos Snap wiped out half the population, Marvel didn’t do anybody dirty there.
Cassie lost her father, Scott Lang, rather than the other way around, as did Morgan Stark.

While people watched their friends and even lovers vanish into ash, it wasn’t the same as losing a child.
A year from now, you’ll understand why I’m driving home this point, but it’s important today, too.

You’re learning that the Russo Brothers are already manipulating you for the story coming soon.
Then, we have the third trailer, which is just…chaos incarnate.
EVEN MORE SPOILERS

Photo: Marvel
Fans have lamented the lack of action in the first two Avengers: Doomsday teasers.
They have a slow build that sets the table, which isn’t satisfying for adrenaline junkies.

Well, the third teaser only takes a few seconds to get to the fireworks factory, but then…BOOM!!!
As I’d previously indicated, the third trailer does in fact feature the X-Men.

Specifically, it’s Patrick Stewart’s X-Men, and Ian McKellen is along for the ride as Magneto.
They even hug in this clip, which indicates it’s a variant of the MCU, not the one from the Fox universe.

Well, I suppose it’s possible, but if so, we have clearly missed a LOT!
Anyway, Magneto performs the voiceover narration for this clip. He says:

“Death comes for us all. It’s all I know for sure. The question isn’t, “Are you prepared to die?”
“The question is, “Who would you be when you close your eyes?””

That quote goes a long way in telling you the subject matter of this teaser.
It’s an invasion. Even worse, it’s an invasion of Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

SuperHeroHype
Also, that sure looks to be the giant robot foot of a Sentinel doing the stomping on the building.
Yes, what we’re witnessing is a no-holds-barred attack on the X-Men on their home field.

Marvel
Who could orchestrate such an attack? Well, that remains a mystery, but I think we all know.
The person would need to be good enough with technology to control Sentinels.

Do you know who’s good with technology? Doctor Doom. He’s not a medical doctor, y’all.
What Does It Mean?

We still have one more teaser yet to come, although I stand behind my earlier assumption.
I don’t think Marvel will reveal Doctor Doom yet this week. They’ll save it for the NFL playoffs instead.

Photo: Marvel
That’s what I expect Marvel’s Super Bowl trailer to be, but they may use it for the conference finals instead.
Those get killer ratings, too, and then Marvel can add something extra for the Super Bowl spot.

Photo: BBC
Either way, I doubt Marvel wastes the Doctor Doom reveal on Avatar: Fire & Ash’s fourth weekend.
The viewership won’t be large enough to justify it, even though it’ll still be the number one film in the world.

Photo: Illuminerdi
What we’re getting instead is an introduction to various characters fighting on the side of good.
In this case, we have the first reveal of The Mutants in the MCU…but it goes horribly.

Photo: Amazon
My suspicion is that we’re witnessing the destruction of not just the school and these characters.
I think Doctor Doom is wiping out an entire reality, an incursion that forces a response by The Avengers.

We’ll get more clues next week. So, stay tuned!
