On March 26, 2025, the world’s eyes were glued to Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated livestream, which slowly unveiled the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.
In the weeks leading up to the event, speculation ran wild as fans tried to guess which heroes would assemble for the multiversal adventure.

While Kevin Feige had already confirmed that Captain America, the Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts would appear, the rest of the lineup remained tightly under wraps.
Over the course of a six-and-a-half-hour reveal, Marvel confirmed that several familiar faces, including Ant-Man, Black Panther, Thor, Loki, Shang-Chi, and Namor, would be returning.

While the list of returning heroes for Avengers: Doomsday was impressive, there were some notable omissions.

Chief among them was Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk.
Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk Has Been a Constant MCU Presence
Unlike most of his Avengers teammates, Bruce Banner has appeared with some regularity during Marvel’s Multiverse Saga.

In addition to his appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Banner appeared via hologram at the end of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
In that post-credit scene, it was implied that Smart Hulk was among the heroes continuing to help lead Earth’s defenses.

While it would have seemed like a natural fit for Hulk to suit up in Avengers: Doomsday, that apparently won’t be the case.
Hulk Will NOT Appear in ‘Doomsday’
During a recent conversation with Empire, Ruffalo confirmed that he does not appear in the next Avengers film, though he did say he would be open to reprising his iconic role.

“As long as they keep finding cool things to do with Hulk,” he added.
While Ruffalo’s admission will surely disappoint some fans, it may also make sense.

Hulk is set to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.
Notably, all three of the film’s stars were absent from the Doomsday cast reveal.

Reading the tea leaves, it appears the Brand New Day characters will be busy during the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
Nevertheless, it would be shocking if we don’t see them pop up in Avengers: Secret Wars.
